Art and the ocean.

Since I first set my hands in clay, the laborious, yet Zen process of spinning clay on the wheel and the fashioning of hand built armatures has captivated me. There is something gratifying about getting your hands dirty to transform a soft earthy material into functional and decorative visual art.

Since childhood, the sea and its infinite inhabitants have inspired my art as well as personal lifestyle. Much like the art world, the sea holds many wonderful mysteries that beg to be explored and admired. While the sea is my main source of inspiration for my work, I also love looking to the earth and night skies as inspiration as well. It's so refreshing to be able to communicate details of a landscape through my pieces.

I love figuring out how to integrate the key pieces of nature I'm infatuated with at the time into my work. Lately my inspiration is drawn from oceanic lifeforms, movements of the tide, sedimentary stratum, and celestial objects. Each piece gets a different approach as far as how I decide to translate these musings through my work, whether it be through sculptural means, visual texture, glaze application, or a more straight forward illustration.

While I mainly work to fuel my own personal interests, I am open to taking custom orders from time to time. If you are interested in a custom piece, feel free to contact me for more information. Please note that my schedule is very busy and I have the right to refuse or reschedule custom orders in order to put my regular items and sales first.
